Installation

Unpack and inspect all components. Ensure proper clearances and venting requirements.

  1. Position furnace: Place on stable, level surface with proper clearances to combustibles.
  2. Connect gas line: Use black iron pipe with proper thread sealant; pressure test for leaks.
  3. Connect electrical: 120V AC power supply with proper grounding and disconnect.
  4. Connect thermostat: Low-voltage wiring (typically 18-22 gauge).
  5. Install vent system: Follow manufacturer specifications for PVC venting.
  6. Connect ductwork: Ensure proper sizing and sealing.

WARNING! Gas furnaces produce carbon monoxide; proper venting is critical. Installation must comply with local codes and be performed by qualified technician.

First-Time Setup

Power on furnace; follow startup procedure.

  1. Verify gas supply: Ensure gas valve is open and pressure is correct.
  2. Check electrical: Verify proper voltage at unit.
  3. Set thermostat: Place in heating mode with temperature above room temp.
  4. Startup sequence: Control board will initiate ignition sequence.
  5. Check operation: Verify proper flame, airflow, and temperature rise.
  6. Configure settings: DIP switches for blower speeds, staging, etc.

CAUTION! Never bypass safety devices. Test carbon monoxide detectors after installation.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Access control board via front panel. Integrated control module with diagnostic capabilities.

Thermostat: HEAT/COOL/OFF mode, FAN AUTO/ON, temperature setpoints, system switch.

Control Board: LED status lights, DIP switch settings, terminal connections. Settings: Blower speeds, temperature rise, staging delays, fan on/off delays. Diagnostic: LED flash codes for troubleshooting (refer to code chart). Safety: Limit switches (high temperature), pressure switches (airflow), rollout switches (flame).

Connecting Components

Gas line: Black iron pipe with sediment trap. Electrical: 120V power, 24V thermostat. Vent: PVC for high-efficiency, metal for standard.

  1. Turn off gas and electrical power before connecting.
  2. Match pipe sizes to furnace connections (typically 1/2" to 3/4").
  3. Use proper vent materials and follow slope requirements.
  4. Connect thermostat wires to R, W, G, Y, C terminals as needed.

Tip: Always pressure test gas lines and check for leaks with soap solution.

Operation

Supports continuous heating operation with automatic cycling.

  1. Thermostat call: When room temperature drops below setpoint.
  2. Inducer motor: Starts to prove draft and clear combustion chamber.
  3. Ignition: Hot surface igniter glows or spark ignition occurs.
  4. Gas valve: Opens to allow gas flow to burners.
  5. Flame detection: Sensor confirms flame presence.
  6. Blower activation: Delayed start to warm heat exchanger.
  7. Shutdown: When thermostat satisfied, gas valve closes, blower continues for cool-down.

WARNING! Never operate without proper venting or air filter. Regular maintenance required for safe operation.

Maintenance Features

Self-diagnostics: LED flash codes indicate specific issues. Air flow monitoring: Pressure switches ensure proper ventilation. Temperature limits: Prevent overheating. Filter reminder: Some models include filter change indicator.

Care & Cleaning

Turn off power before servicing. Replace air filter monthly during heating season. Clean burners and heat exchanger annually. Inspect vent system for obstructions.

CAUTION! Do not use compressed air on electronic components. Keep combustion area clear of debris.
